Spaghetti Harvest is a project that reflects my husbands memories growing up in England.

As I mature, I can see the humor in all the things that brought me sadness in my youth. I have a desire to create images with a sense of humor and this was a perfect idea to try out something absurd that has a connection to our family. This collection of images and video is based on a BBC televised broadcast that aired on April Fools Day in 1957 claiming that spaghetti grows on trees! It was a memory my husband had growing up in England and he shared it with us. My daughter kindly helped me cover branches in spaghetti, and it was a lot harder then we anticipated as our fingers were covered in gummy starch! I wanted to photograph this concept with the Agfa Synchro Box from the 1950’s to give it a vintage feel. I also used the Canon 5D Mark III and the Canon EOS 1V SLR. This project is ongoing, as I plan to reshoot it this spring with multiple people harvesting the spaghetti and a dinner outside under the trees. ( More Images to come )
