My work is a journey of healing, resilience, and self-discovery, rooted in my personal experiences of trauma, recovery, and transformation. As an analog, alt-process, and digital photographer, I use the medium of self-portraiture to navigate and reflect on the complexities of my body and identity. Through my images, I seek to capture the beauty and strength that resides in vulnerability, much like the natural world around us.
Inspired by the resilience of nature—the deep strength in the roots of a tree, the quiet power of a decaying flower—I mirror these qualities in my portraits. The landscapes I inhabit, whether it’s the sunlight or the decaying fruits and flowers I use, are symbols of change and endurance, reflecting both the aging process and the capacity to grow through it. I see my own body as a landscape, one shaped by both trauma and recovery, and in my self-portraits, I explore the intersections of aging, sensuality, and healing.
My work is not just about reclaiming my body after a stroke and the changes of menopause; it is about finding beauty in those transitions. It is about embracing hope, resilience, and the inherent beauty of transformation. Through these portraits, I offer a visual dialogue on the strength we all carry within us, even when we feel most vulnerable. In the delicate balance between strength and fragility, I aim to express the profound truth that growth—no matter how challenging—is always a beautiful and worthy experience.
